A person who caused a car accident in which someone else (one of his or her relatives or friends or acquaintances, or a stranger) was killed, will most probably forever beat himself or herself up for this. He or she will think Had I done this instead of that, this person / those people would still live. Had I not checked my smartphone. Had I not driven under influence. Had I not tried to overtake that car — it was too risky and I should have known that. Had I been wiser not to drive when I was sleepy.
