We like to think that had something not happened (something bad) or had we or someone else made a different choice, or had we or someone else behaved differently, the reality would be better. That our lives would be better. That someone who was a close family member would still live or be fine (not disabled or traumatized, or ill). In other words, we like to have something or someone to blame for what the reality looks like today.
